AFP Brisbane Airport members were called on Saturday evening (24 April 2021) after airport staff located a checked suitcase allegedly containing a large amount of Australian currency. Police allege the suitcase contained approximately $70,000 in cash, comprising of $20 dollar and $50 dollar bank notes stored inside a vacuum sealed bag. It will also be alleged in court that cloves of garlic were stored alongside the money in an attempt to conceal the currency and prevent detection by authorities.
