A new study, led by professors at the University of Chicago and Duke University, found that COVID-19 cases in the southern state of Karnataka, India, are nearly 95 times greater than reported.
The study led by Prof. Anup Malani from the University of Chicago’s Law School and Pritzker School of Medicine, and Prof. Manoj Mohanan from Duke University suggests that 44.1% of the population in rural areas and 53.8% in urban areas in the southern state of Karnataka tested positive for antibodies to COVID-19 by the end of August 2020.

Spectrum Health West Michigan hired Dr. James Moses, M.D., MPH, as senior vice president of quality, safety and patient experience. He will begin his new role in April.
Moses comes to Spectrum Health from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston Medical Center, where he served as chief quality officer and vice president of quality and safety.
At Spectrum Health, Moses will develop and execute strategy, set targets and lead efforts for continuous improvement of quality, safety and patient experience. He will be responsible for integrating quality, safety and patient experience through collaborative leadership and targeted initiatives across Spectrum Health West Michigan.

A phase 2 clinical trial providing personalized treatments based on the genetic profile of metastatic tumors in gastroesophageal cancers has found that using customized treatment approaches, and adapting them over time as tumors become resistant, led to higher rates of survival compared to historical controls.
