Isaac and Simon Way admittedly expect to win their sets, especially when they team up for the doubles round.
“We know each other pretty well,” Isaac Way said, joking that Simon “has been pretty lazy.”
The brothers from Atlanta made the difference on Monday as Missouri Military Academy edged Mexico at the Fairgrounds Park courts 5-4.
Isaac blanked Randy Hernandez in singles play, winning 2-0, with the match using a best two out of three scoring format. The Bulldogs’ Haden Frazier made a run at Simon after dropping the first game 6-0. In the end, Way managed to distance himself just enough to eke out a 6-4 game win to take the set.

The weather proved more daunting for the Bulldogs than Capital City on Monday at the Fairgrounds Park tennis courts.
Mexico claimed the match 6-3, and the set wins were without drama. But one contest kept the small crowd fixated through a frigid northern gale.
Haden Frazier and Capital City’s Jonathan Dunville continued to joust long after the other spats had ended. Down early, the Bulldogs’ number two player closed the gap to 8-5.
Dashing corner to corner, side to side to extend volleys, Frazier was able to pull almost even and force an extra game. In the end, however, Dunville prevailed 11-9.

Councillors have given the green light for a temporary compound to be built on land at the former Hixon Airfield as part of work on the new HS2 line.
The compound will be used in connection with off-site ground investigation works and permission has been granted for it to remain in place until August 31, 2022.
