(WMBF) - Conway Medical Center and Horry County Schools are working together to bring the vaccine to teachers and staff members within the district. Now that Gov. Henry McMaster and the Department of Health and Environmental Control have announced that the state is moving into Phase 1b next week, the hospital and school district have already gone to work to set up an event to start vaccinating teachers.

(WMBF) – Horry County School leaders gave new details Monday night on its vaccination plan once teachers and staff are given the go-ahead to roll up their sleeves. During the Horry County Board of Education meeting, officials said that the district has partnered with Conway Medical Center to provide COVID-19 vaccinations for employees. At this point, educators and staff remain in Phase 1b in South Carolina’s vaccine distribution plan. But there are a couple of bills in the Statehouse that would move teachers, staff and daycare workers up the rollout list.

Although few details about the potential deal have been released, the intent of the proposal is to give Conway Medical Center the zoning change it needs to build a 50-bed hospital on International Drive. A draft of the contract would go to the planning commission for review before coming to county council in late spring or early summer.
