The Sundance Institute has unveiled its line-up for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, modified to be a largely online event in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Passes and tickets for the festival go on sale on Jan. 7, and it takes place from Jan. 28 through Feb. 3.
There will also be some in-person events on “Satellite Screens” throughout the country, public health conditions permitting. One of those satellite locations will be the Ray theater in Park City.
Judge John Cleland, who was appointed to serve as a special master in the case, wrote that Faulkner failed to establish the existence of a direct conflict of interest or an appearance of impropriety that would prevent the District Attorney s Office from handling such appeals, according to court documents.
Justices Kevin Dougherty, David Wecht, and Christine Donohue agreed with Cleland s findings, though in the concurring statement dismissing Faulkner s petition, Dougherty wrote that Faulkner had exposed several grave and alarming allegations concerning District Attorney Krasner and his office’s ability to act impartially in this case.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Refuses to Remove DA in Cop-Killer’s Case
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court threw out a petition filed by the widow of a Philadelphia police officer who wanted anti-police Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner barred from handling ongoing appeals in the case of convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Abu-Jamal, a former Black Panther militant born Wesley Cook, was convicted of the 1981 murder of Daniel Faulkner. During his trial, Abu-Jamal didn’t deny the killing. As Faulkner tried to arrest Abu-Jamal’s brother during a traffic stop, Abu-Jamal shot the white policeman once in the back and then standing over him, shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face. Multiple eyewitnesses saw the killing.
