Dr. Allison Foster, the current principal of Phillippi Shores Elementary School, has been selected to serve as the Sarasota County School Districtâs new Executive Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations. She will transition out of her current principalship into her new role at the end of the month. In the new position, Foster will direct all activities relating to labor relations; plan, develop and recommend programs to improve teacher attendance; oversee the hiring of minority teachers, long-term professional development, formal leadership training for principals, and the interview process for new teachers; provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of risk management and benefits; and plan, recommend and promote policies and programs that will support School Board objectives, among other responsibilities.
SPD deputy chief named Sarasota interim deputy city manager
Pat Robinson, formerly deputy chief of the Sarasota Police Department, has been named interim deputy city manager for the city of Sarasota.
Robinson will work under Marlon Brown, who was named interim city manager after the Sarasota City Commission decided to part ways with Tom Barwin earlier this week. He will take his new post Monday, according to Police Chief Bernadette DiPino.
Robinson notified SPD Wednesday about his new role with the city.
“I found out about it yesterday (Wednesday),” DiPino said. “I’m really proud of Pat. He’s worked really hard. I take it as a compliment that the new city manager recognized the talent of Pat Robinson. He’s a great and capable leader. While it leaves a void in the deputy chief’s position, our agency is always prepared for these types of situation.”
