Published February 10, 2021 2:02pm The Philippines opened 2021 with a 3-million drop in the total swine inventory, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported, as the government scrambles to boost supply amid the African swine fever (ASF) outbreak. Preliminary data released by the PSA showed that the total swine inventory was estimated at 9.72 million heads as of January 01, 2021 versus the 12.80 million reported the previous year. Broken down, 71.1% were raised in backyard farms while the remaining 28.9% were from commercial farms. The top three sources of inventory were Regions VI (Western Visayas) accounting for 12.5% with 1.211 million heads; VII (Central Visayas) accounting for 12.1% or 1.176 million heads, and IVA (Calabarzon) accounting for 11.0% or 1.064 million heads.
CORTES, Bohol, Feb. 9 (PIA) The race to register 622,000 Boholanos to the unified Philippine National identification system (PhilSys) starts in Tagbilaran City as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) rolls out its Step 2 Registration with a Center here on Feb. 2.
No less than Provincial Statistician Jessamyne Anne Alcazaren, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II, and Land Bank of the Philippines Capitol Branch Manager Dexter Ray Ruiz, along with PSA Bohol officials and the Bohol Local Civil Registrar Association president led the ceremonial opening of the Step 2 registration with some registrants ready to test the process.
PSA Bohol Supervising Statistical Specialist Jocelyn Sarmiento said the City Registration Center is the first among the 47 towns and one city in Bohol which will move the registration process a step further, as registrants initial information given during the pre-registration phase would be validated before their biometric profiles are digitally capt

This is one of the findings of the research study conducted by researchers from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-National Research Council of the Philippines (NCRP), led by Dr. Goria Nelson.

In her sponsorship speech on Senate Bill 1741, Villar said Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data indicated that the biggest bulk of the country’s annual cacao production came from Davao Region.
Senator Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa, a native of the Davao region, also delivered a sponsorship speech on the same issue.
PSA data show that approximately 78.76 percent of annual production of cacao in the Philippines comes from the Davao region composed of Davao del Sur, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental.
They are the top five producers in terms of volume of production.
