Sobejana gives his thumbs up to ATC s terrorist designations

Esperon Jr. told the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday, May 12, that the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) is set to come out on Thursday, May 13, with a list of individuals designated as “terrorists.” During the resumption of the online oral arguments on 37 petitions against the constitutionality of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), Esperon said the ATC has come up with a resolution on the designation of individuals linked to the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). On questions propounded by Associate Justice Rosmari D. Carandang Esperon said the names will be published in major newspapers on Thursday, May 13.

NPA, CNT supporters surrender

ILOILO CITY, May 11 (PIA) – Following the surrender of more than 400 Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army Terrorist (CNT) members and supporters earlier this year, the exodus back to government fold continues. According to 301st Brigade Acting Civil-Military Operations Officer Capt. Ruel Llanes, one NPA regular and nine NPA in the barrio (Milisyang Bayan or MB) surrendered to the Community Support Program (CSP) Teams under 61st Infantry Battalion based in Miag-ao, Iloilo last May 6, 2021. The five MB personalities are from Tubungan, Iloilo while the other four MBs are from Miag-ao, Iloilo. Llanes said that all nine MBs are supporting the Southern Front of Kilusang Rehiyon – Panay or SF, KR-P.

Parlade is one of the spokespersons for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). The petitioners earlier complained to the Supreme Court (SC) about Parlade’s Facebook post last January in which the military official warned that “very soon, blood debts will be settled. The long arm of the law will catch up on you, and your supporters.”

ELCAC priority brgys in NegOr to get P20-M BDP funding in 2022

DUMAGUETE CITY, May 10 (PIA) All barangays in Negros Oriental identified as priority areas under the government’s “whole of nation approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) program can expect a P20-M budget allocation from the government for the implementation of their Barangay Development Plans (BDP) next year. This was disclosed by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG- 7) Regional Director Leocadio Trovela who said that ELCAC priority barangays in Central Visayas are included in the second batch of beneficiaries of BDP funding which is slated for release in 2022. DILG-7 Regional Director Leocadio Trovela, in an interview with PIA, said 83 barangays in Central Visayas will get P20-M from the NTF ELCAC for their Barangay Development Programs (BDP) in 2022.
