SC to hold proceedings on limited extent from April 5-11

DHAKA, April 5, 2021 (BSS) – Both the Divisions of the Supreme Court (SC) will hold their proceedings on limited extent from April 5 to 11 during the ongoing nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Supreme Court has issued separate notifications in this regard.
According to a notification signed by Appellate Division Registrar Md Badrul Alam Bhuiyan, the chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will hold hearing on emergency matters only through virtual presence by using information technology on Tuesday and Thursday from April 5 to 11.
A High Court Division notification signed by Registrar General Md Ali Akbar said High Court benches will hold their proceedings on limited scale to deal with the very urgent, writ, civil, criminal and company admiralty related matters only through virtual presence by using information technology.

Section 41(1) of the Courts Act provides that there shall be, for the dispatch of civil and criminal business of the Supreme Court, such divisions of the Supreme Court as the Honourable Chief Justice thinks fit, including a Financial Crimes Division, a Land Division, a Family Division, and a Commercial Division.
The public and the legal profession are hereby informed that, pursuant to the above, the said Divisions of the Supreme Court shall hear and determine cases as follows –
