France-based Moteurs Baudouin and its U.S. distributor, Motor Services Hugo Stamp (MSHS) Group, have teamed up with Fletcher Technical Community College in Houma, La., to provide students in the school’s marine diesel engine technician program with vital hands-on experience, thanks to four donated Baudouin marine diesel engines.
MSHS Group donated the four 6M26.3 Baudouin engines, which are the same engines being installed in new vessels at four southeast Louisiana shipyards.

Local colleges not requiring the coronavirus vaccine
As people continue to roll up their sleeves for the coronavirus vaccine, local college officials said the shot will not be required for students, faculty or staff.
Though Nicholls State University in Thibodaux and Fletcher Technical Community College in Schriever plan to return to traditional classes in the fall, requiring a COVID-19 vaccine will not be on the agenda.
“We’re not going to require the vaccine,” Fletcher Chancellor Dr. Kristine Strickland said. “That’s a personal choice for our faculty, staff and students. At the end of the day, people have to make the best decisions for themselves. The vaccine helps us get back to what we know as more normal and I’m certainly encouraging everyone that I know to consider getting the vaccine and do their homework.”
Donated marine diesel engines give Fletcher students hands-on experience
Marine diesel students at Fletcher Technical Community College will have the opportunity to earn hands-on experience thanks to four donated marine diesel engines.
The four 6M26.3 engines were donated by Baudouin, a company based in southern France. The company distributes engines in the United States through Florida-based Motor Services Hugo Stamp.
The engines will allow Fletcher students to learn important skills by working on the same service-friendly engines used by four nearby Louisiana shipyards officials said.
“Operations of this size incorporate a sizable workforce of highly skilled and paid trade jobs,” Motor Services Hugo Stamp Territory Manager Dual Yelverton said. “The value to students of being able to work on these engines is much more than just nominal. These engines will enable them to expand their knowledge of innovators in the industry in terms of electronic engine components
