The new President of the Blair County Chapter of the NAACP is the youngest ever elected to lead a Pennsylvania branch.
22-year-old Andrae Holsey, a 2016 graduate of Altoona Area High School, will lead over 50 members in branch #2252.
“What I want to bring to the table is the ability to communicate with the younger generation,”
He spent over four years in the army reserves as a mechanic.
In December, Holsey will graduate from Penn State Altoona and become a Second Lieutenant in the army.
The Blair County NAACP is the oldest chapter in the PA State Conference.

A long-time advocate for women, Virginia Day of Altoona, is being remembered for her faith and community involvement.
Day, 76, died Jan. 27 after an illness, according to the Rev. Keith Moore, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Day was a life member.
“She was a very private person,” Moore said, explaining that Day had been in declining health for about a year.
He described her as the “pillar of the community” whom everyone referred to as “Miss Virginia.”
Day sang in the choir and served as financial secretary for many years and received the title of “trustee emeritus” last year.
