Rays get Cruz in trade, rally to beat Cleveland in 10
Austin Meadows hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to cap Tampa Bay’s comeback in a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, hours after the Rays acquired slugger Nelson Cruz from Minnesota.

Hours after adding slugger Nelson Cruz to their lineup in a major trade, Tampa Bay stormed back for a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night with Austin Meadows delivering an RBI single in the 10th inning.
Meadows’ one-out liner on an 0-2 pitch from Bryan Shaw (3-4) brought home Randy Arozarena from second base.

Hunter Renfroe drove in the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning as the host Boston Red Sox rallied past the New York Yankees 5-4 on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series.
Enrique Hernandez tied the game at 3 on a two-out, two-run double in the ninth inning. He finished with three RBIs as the Red Sox won their third straight. Alex Verdugo added three hits.
Gleyber Torres had two RBIs for the Yankees, whose four-game winning streak ended. New York was held to four hits while dropping to 2-8 against Boston this season.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) Francisco Mejía had a homer and five RBIs, Randy Arozarena also homered and the Tampa Bay Rays spoiled John Means’ return from a left shoulder strain, beating the Baltimore Orioles 9-3 Tuesday night.
Means (4-3), making his first start since June 5, allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings, striking out two in a 78-pitch outing.
