WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) â Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido confirmed to 7 Action News on Wednesday that a 14-year veteran police detective in Warren has been charged with two counts of embezzlement in the line of duty.
These are felonies, carrying up to five years in prison.
A group of Macomb County women called Tuesday for Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido to resign, arguing he is unfit because of “inappropriate workplace behavior” and association with “sexual predators and their defenders.”
Three representatives of the Macomb Accountability Project, a self-described grassroots organization, called for the former state lawmaker to step down during a virtual news conference.
“We are calling for Peter Lucido to resign,” said one of the women, Emily Mellits of Washington Township.
“… We will not be silent any longer,” she said. “Enough is enough.”
Lucido, who faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment while serving in the state Senate, described the group s effort against him Tuesday as disingenuous and a ploy.

ST. CLAIR SHORES Thirteen residents have thrown their hat into the ring to be considered for one of three spots on City Council up for grabs in November.
Although there have been primary elections for City Council races in the past, City Clerk Mary Kotowski said there is a lot of interest in the election this year.
“I don’t remember, in my 22 years, having this many candidates,” she said.
A primary election is triggered for the City Council election if more than double the amount of candidates to be elected file to run. The top six vote getters from the Aug. 3 primary election will move onto the November general election, when the top three candidates will be elected to serve a four-year term on City Council.

An initial investigation has determined that calls made about an active shooter situation were set up by a Dakota High School student.
Around 1:30 p.m. April 19, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Dakota High School in Macomb Township for an active shooter incident.
“Multiple deputies responded and cleared the building finding no evidence of any type of shooting,” an April 20 Sheriff’s Office press release states. “All students and staff, who had gone into a school lock down, were safe and unharmed.”
Police say that dispatch received a call from a male stating he had been shot in his home. The male then gave Dakota’s address as the address where he had been shot. The caller then ended the call.
