Re This Has Not Been Canada’s Finest Hour (Editorial, March 3): I believe the reason that the COVID-19 death rate in Canada is lower than the world’s worst-hit countries is the quiet compliance of the vast majority of Canadians. With our daily sacrifices, and struggle to maintain our threadbare patience, we are picking up the slack left by the people who should be leading and protecting us.
TORONTO Police say that a man from Quebec is facing charges in connection with a stabbing at a Peterborough residence Tuesday morning that left one person dead. In a news release, police said that officers responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Aylmer Street near the city’s downtown. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a male victim, police said. He was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre and was later pronounced deceased. Police said that Quebec resident Markuss Thoby, 29, has been charged with second-degree murder as a result of their investigation. He was arrested at nearby Lansdowne Place mall shortly after the incident, according to police.
Peterborough Police have one person in custody and the investigation is ongoing after a stabbing.
Around 10:20 this morning, officers responded to an Aylmer Street address regarding a stabbing. When officers attended the scene they found a male victim. He was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre by EMS, however, succumbed to his injuries.
A 29-year-old Quebec man has been charged in connection.
Markuss Thoby was arrested at Lansdowne Place mall shortly after the incident and charged with second degree murder.
Police currently have the residence secured as part of the investigation. The road has been reopened to traffic.
There is no threat to public safety. Further information will be provided once available.
