(WWBT) - The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting which left one person dead and another in critical condition. Authortities say deputies responded to the 4100 block of Beth Lane around 10:30 p.m Saturday night for the report of a person being shot. Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Deputies found 23-year-old Waekuon Quendrick Johnson of Petersburg had been shot. He was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. He was a resident of the 100 block of Croatan Drive in Petersburg.

Petersburg, state police probe possible link between shooting, dead driver

The Progress-Index PETERSBURG City and state police are working to determine if there is a link between Sunday s reported shooting in the Myrick Acres neighborhood and an accident on Interstate 95 where the driver was discovered shot and died later at Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center. State police said the unidentified driver crashed his car into the I-95 median strip just north of the Wagner Road interchange around 10:45 p.m. According to the investigation, the car was southbound on I-95 when it ran off the right side of the road, then crossed over to the other side of the road where it hit a guardrail.
