PCAO says no charges warranted against deputy who shot, killed 19-year-old; family responds

TUCSON (KVOA) - The family of a 19-year-old Bradley Alexander Lewis, who died in the custody of the Pima County Sheriff s Department, is looking for answers after a statement by the Pima County Attorney’s Office says they continue to investigate the incident. This comes after a PCAO official said no charges were warranted. Back on Jan. 20, 19-year-old Lewis was reportedly shot and killed by a PCSD deputy, later identified as Gilbert Caudillo, in connection to a report of an adult male attempting to break into vehicles at the 2100 block of Morning Jewel Place near La Cholla Boulevard and Overton Road.

The report said in one of the trash dumps on Feb. 13, police found a letter addressed to Shayna Serrato, a tenant of Qin’s he attempted to evict in a case Watters presided over. Watters arranged a periodic check-in with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Police would drive by to check on the residence due to the ongoing littering and vandalism reports. The judge told police he’d seen deputies driving by in the early morning hours, as the stress of the situation kept him from sleeping.
