CENTER TWP. A Beaver County woman died in a Center Grange Road house fire Wednesday morning.
The Beaver County Coroner’s Office said 73-year-old Marcella Alaica, of Center Township, died from thermal and inhalation injuries. Her death was ruled accidental.
The woman’s husband sustained injuries in the blaze, but may soon be discharged from a local hospital, Center Township Fire Chief Bill Brucker said. The American Red Cross has been notified to assist the man once he’s released.
Multiple fire and police departments responded to the blaze at approximately 8:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Center Grange.
One of the residents called emergency responders reporting that the couple’s couch was on fire, Brucker said. When crews arrived, the man was struggling to leave his porch and said his wife was still in the home – now filled with flames and smoke.
