New Canaan s CFO Lunda Asmani has received both personal recognition for his work with the town, as well as accepting on the town’s behalf recently. For the second year in a row, New Canaan has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Financial Officers Association.
Pittsfield Wins Distinguished Budget Award For A Fourth Year
For the fourth year in a row, the city of Pittsfield has won the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the compilation of its fiscal year 2021 budget, according to a press release from the City of Pittsfield and the Mayor s Office.
The awards are presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

According to a news release from the association, the award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
The city had to meet
The Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award goes to the city of Gastonia for its fiscal year 2021 budget report.
The association describes the award as the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, adding that the award “represents a significant achievement.”
This is the 26th year that the city has received the award.
“Producing a budget that is user-friendly, informative, and transparent is important to our citizens, investors and other governing agencies because it helps them make more informed decisions,” Crystal Certain said, who is the city’s director of financial services.
More than 1,600 organizations participate in the Budget Awards Program.
BCHD is only health district ever to be honored by the CSMFO for excellence in government financial reporting
The California Society of Municipal Finance Officers has presented Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) with an Excellence Award for its 2020-21 fiscal year Operating Budget.
BCHD is the only health district to meet the CSMFO standards of excellence. BCHD has received one or more CSMFO honors every year they have been given since the 2007-2008 fiscal year, a total of 17 CSMFO Excellence or Meritorious Awards to date.
“Transparency is very important to our community and to our dedicated employees,” said Tom Bakaly, CEO for BCHD. “Our Finance team, led by CFO Monica Suua, puts in many hours of hard work to ensure our community can access this important information year after year. This winning streak of awards is proof of their commitment to accuracy and transparency.”

JOLIET, IL Joliet Junior College President Judy Mitchell is leaving her position at the end of this year, school officials announced Thursday morning. Mitchell has been employed for 25 years with JJC and nearly five years as campus president.
The Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees approved her retirement at Wednesday night s meeting. A new president will be in place by next January. When I think about 2020 and my nearly five years as president, I am so proud of the work we have accomplished together, Mitchell said in Thursday s news release. The clarity that 2020 brought to me personally is that I have accomplished what I set out to do when I accepted this role, plus so much more. That is why I am announcing my retirement from the college, effective December 31, 2021.
