In a bid to reduce police brutality and encourage good officers among the force to keep up the good work, Citizen’s Gavel, through its ‘Askari Wey Correct Award’ has unfolded plans to reward four Police Officers for their diligence. x
The officers include CSP Julius Adedeji, a staff officer in the office of the Inspector General of Police, DSP Iheanacho Ifeanyi Omuta assigned to the Force Intelligence Response Team, Lagos State; ACP Makus Ishaku Bashiran, head of the Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, and ASP Saviour Bassey, a finance officer in the office of the IGP.
Gunshots were fired on Thursday morning as armed members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) clashed at the Obalende area of Lagos State.
An eyewitness said the clash started on Thursday around 8: 00 am and left commuters to scamper for safety. The eyewitness alleged it was a rival clash between factions of the NURTW but another report said it was a clash between members of rival cult groups. x
The series of gunshots has led to panic in the area with some properties destroyed.
“Everyone should avoid Obalende right now. Thugs are heavily armed with guns shooting here and there,” a Twitter user @notjustsalmanPR.

Gunshots were fired at the Obalende area of Lagos this morning as rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers allegedly clashed on Thursday morning.
The clash which started around 8am, as learnt, led to panic in the area as motorists, passengers and passersby scampered for safety due to the gunshots fired.
One Twitter user, Chika Ezeabiama @ps6811 tweeted, Please guys if you re going to Obalende or Ikoyi through that axis biko (please) turn back, Agberos (motor park workers) are fighting and as usual the @PoliceNG are doing nothing about it.

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Police Command in Lagos State says it has arrested four police officers who allegedly harassed and extorted N70,000 from a 16-year-old student on Wednesday at NGAB Junction, Isheri Area of Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, stated this in a statement signed on Friday by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
“The pictures of the policemen caught in the acts of unprofessionalism and extortion, have gone viral on the social media.
“This attracted the Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters Abuja, and decided to track the policemen for necessary police action.
