JEFF TECH OPERATING COMMITTEE APPROVES PASD SUPERINTENDENT DR. THOMAS LESNIEWSKI TO REMAIN AS CHIEF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR By John Smathers May 25, 2021 | 4:39 PM The Jeff Tech Operating Committee approved a motion to keep Dr. Thomas Lesniewski of the Punxsutawney Area School District as the Chief School Administrator and honored three employees including school nurse Donna Overman, printer Drew Gilhousen, English instructor Ron Doane at Monday’s meeting. The committee also accepted over $130,000 for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program from the American Rescue Plan for Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Director Dr. Barry Fillman said because of the LPN program’s accreditation, it qualified for the funds while other adult programs did not, but he and his staff are working on grant monies for those programs.

According to the Punxsy Spirit, A breakfast and lunch will be provided each day on a first-come, first-serve basis. Families and caregivers can pickup meals for any child age 18 years old and younger Monday through Friday at several location in Punxsutawney and the surrounding areas. PASD REPORTS NEW COVID-19 CASE, JEFFERSON COUNTY REPORTS SEVEN NEW CASES By John Smathers May 6, 2021 | 4:07 PM The Punxsutawney Area School District reported its first positive COVID-19 case in three weeks on Tuesday. Administrators said a student at the high school who was in the building on April 30 recently tested positive for COVID-19 and is under quarantine with six other students who were exposed due to close contact. According to the release, no teachers or staff were exposed due to close contact. Jefferson County reported seven new COVID-19 cases and now new deaths on Wednesday. According to the PA DOH, the county’s total case count has reached 3,226 and the death toll remains at 96.

TRUCK HITS PASD SCHOOL BUS ON ROUTE 119

Punxsutawney, PA / WPXZ 104.1 FM Jan 22, 2021 1:34 PM All Punxsutawney Fire Departments were called out when a truck hit a Punxsutawney Area School District bus near the intersection of Route 119 and Rikers Road just after 7 am Thursday. According to the Punxsy Spirit, the truck was traveling north on Route119 when it stuck the bus that was pulling out of the terminal onto 119. Firefighters and State Police were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County EMS which took the driver of the truck to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.
