Friday, May 14, 2021 As a New Jersey resident, beer lover, and novice craft brewer, I certainly appreciate the microbrewery expansion throughout the state. Currently, New Jersey has approximately 150 microbreweries. Many of these microbreweries create excellent craft beers and have become very popular with local residents despite the strict time and manner restrictions on operations. Fortunately, the New Jersey legislature realized in 2012 that the liberalization of alcohol licensing laws to allow for this microbrewery expansion was a good idea, as the craft beer expansion has swept the nation over the past decade. Upper Freehold officials amend ordinances dealing with marijuana Upper Freehold officials amend ordinances dealing with marijuana UPPER FREEHOLD – Ordinances that ban the production and sale of marijuana in Upper Freehold Township have been amended by the Township Committee to maintain the municipal ban while coming into compliance with a state law that legalizes the use of the drug. During a meeting on May 6, committee members adopted two ordinances which amend Upper Freehold’s land use and police regulations ordinances and acknowledge the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act. The act is known by its state bill number, A-21.
