Taipei, March 2 (CNA) A New Taipei-based food company is recalling a baby rice cracker product after local health officials found evidence the firm was illegally using nitrogen in food packaging.
In a statement published on its website Tuesday, Chanyue International Co. announced it decided to recall LeVic Babies Rice Cookie from shelves around Taiwan from Monday, after its use of nitrogen for product packaging raised health concerns.
The company is offering customers refunds, returns or replacements and will send the recalled items to a third party certification body to conduct food safety tests.

Taipei, Dec. 15 (CNA) Prosecutors on Tuesday indicted the owner of a New Taipei-based face mask factory and his company for importing millions of non-medical grade Chinese face masks and selling them through the government rationing program as Taiwanese manufactured, for which he gained an illicit profit of NT$34.07 million (US$1.19 million).
Lin Ming-chin (林明進) and his Carry Mask were indicted by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for alleged violations of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act; Article 255 of the Criminal Code, for obfuscating the origin of a product s country of origin; as well as offenses of fraud as stipulated in Article 339 of the Criminal Code.
