STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A 27-year-old man was shot in the lower back Monday night in New Brighton, police said.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Jersey Street, near Hendricks Avenue, at 9:21 p.m. for a report of shots fired, according to an NYPD spokesman.
The victim, who is considered in stable condition, was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton by private means following the incident, the spokesman said.
