Incoming freshmen attending WSU’s Convocation ceremony from 10-11 a.m. tomorrow in Beasley Coliseum will learn from sophomore speaker Isabelle Busch that cougars jump 18 feet vertically from a sitting position. The point, Busch said, is to let freshmen know the sky is really the limit. Busch, a biological sciences major, said she channeled her passion.
Week of Welcome began Saturday, kicking off a variety of in-person and virtual events for new and returning students at the Pullman campus. This year’s Week of Welcome features seven anchor events spread throughout the week, starting Wednesday. Other departments and organizations will also hold their own events. The first anchor event is the Student Resource.

The Division of Student Life and the Office of Enrollment Management are putting out a call for volunteers to help with the Welcome to Michigan program, a campuswide collection of events that help new University of Michigan students make a successful transition to the university community.
While volunteers are needed each year, the number needed this year is higher than ever. Hundreds of volunteers from the campus community are needed to help make this program possible.

The 2021 program, co-led by Student Life’s Center for Campus Involvement and OEM’s Office of New Student Programs, has expanded beyond first-year student activities to offer additional events designed specifically for second-year students and new students’ parents and families.
