Credit Courtesy photo The Arrowhead Innovation Fund has announced an investment in TNeuroPharma, a company creating a new blood test to detect Alzheimer’s disease earlier. Founder and CEO Dr. Kristina Trujillo, a New Mexico State University alumna, said this technology also has the potential to lead to future treatment.
TNeuroPharma already has raised over $1.2 million and now AIF will be adding to their growth. Beto Pallares, AIF fund manager, said the early studies by TNeuroPharma have been exciting.
“We want to help the commercialization of this product – and the possible treatment – come to market as fast as possible,” Pallares said.

The April jobs report showed the economy added much fewer jobs than were expected. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in leisure and hospitality, which includes restaurants and bars, had the largest growth with 331,000 jobs added.
Restaurants and bars grew by the largest chunk within that sector, but the report still said leisure and hospitality remained 2.8 million jobs below pre-pandemic employment.
In widespread media reports, restaurant owners, in particular, have said they ve had difficulties hiring workers and blamed the issue on extended, enhanced pandemic unemployment benefits.
Pat Crawley, who owns El Sombrero Patio Cafe on Espina Street, said her kitchen is suffering due to staffing shortages she blamed on unemployment benefits. She said her restaurant is desperate for cooks, runners, bussers, hostesses and servers.

NMSU offers free learn-to-garden program
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, more people have become interested in starting their own vegetable gardens, and have sometimes discovered it’s not as easy as it seems.
For them, there’s the online Seed to Supper program, offered by Ideas for Cooking and Nutrition (ICAN), which is housed within New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Seed to Supper is offering a new spring online course that takes participants from planning a garden all the way to harvest. Participants can enroll in a weekly course or take the self-paced course.
