In one of the hard-hit communities from the pandemic, mutual aid groups in Queens have been raising money and providing support for other similar organizations nearly 1,800 miles away in Texas, now recovering from a destructive snowstorm. The local groups in Queens, known for setting up community fridges and personally delivering meals around the borough, took to Instagram to support their counterparts.

Vaccine Doses Increasing for Seniors on Florida s West Coast: DeSantis
DeSantis held a news conference in Venice Wednesday where he announced more doses would be allocated to counties on Florida s Gulf coast, including Manatee, Charlotte and Sarasota.
Leon County leads the state with about 61% of seniors receiving shots, DeSantis said. Palm Beach County was near 50%, DeSantis said. Statewide, about 35% of Florida s 4.5 million seniors have received a shot.

U.S. lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has revealed that she is a survivor of sexual assault, in an emotional video on Monday, in which she described fearing for her life during the storming of the Capitol on January 6.
The New York Congresswoman drew parallels between the lawmakers seeking to “move on” from the Capitol riot and the denial tactics used by abusers.
“They’re trying to tell us to move on without any accountability. without confronting the extreme damage, loss of life, trauma,” she said, as she accused Republicans of encouraging violence in the lead-up to the riot. “I’m a survivor of sexual assault,” she told her Instagram followers. “As a survivor, I struggle with the idea of being believed.”
