Report: Thruway Authority fixes uncovered safety issue with cashless tolling structure

WHECTV Created: April 15, 2021 07:19 AM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) The New York State Thruway Authority claims it has made fixes to a potential safety issue that led to at least one reported incident involving a piece of equipment falling off a gantry. A gantry is a bridge-like structure you pass under when driving on the thruway. The authority said the 40-pound piece of equipment landed on the shoulder of the road and no one was hit, however, changes had to be made to the structures,  including here in the Finger Lakes.
