LaVonda N Reed Named Dean of College of Law at Georgia State University

Share LaVonda N. Reed LaVonda N. Reed, associate provost for faculty affairs and professor of law, has been named the seventh dean in the college’s history and the first African American to lead the College of Law at Georgia State University, effective July 1. Reed first joined the Syracuse University community in 2006 and has served in her current role since 2015.  In her 15 years at the University, Reed’s teaching and research has focused on wills and trusts, property law, and communications regulatory law and policy. She has taught and mentored hundreds of students and served in numerous leadership positions across campus and with the New York State Bar and the Association of American Law Schools.

Mahmood and Dewey join Hospice & Palliative Care

Tallat Mahmood has joined Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. as a Hospice medical director. In this role, she will work directly with patients and their families receiving hospice services. Julie Dewey has joined Hospice & Palliative Care as a nurse practitioner who will support the Hospice and the A.I.M. Palliative Care Programs. Mahmood obtained her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. Soon thereafter, she completed an internal medicine residency from West Virginia University and a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship from Tulane University. She has worked for the past 20 years in Michigan. Most recently she has been an assistant professor of medicine at Upstate Medical University.
