(WECT) - Officers killed in the line of duty were remembered Thursday night in a special memorial. The 2021 Wilmington Area Law Enforcement Ceremony took place last night outside of the Wilmington Police Department headquarters. WPD celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a candlelight ceremony that honored officers in Wilmington and New Hanover County who were killed on the job. Over the past several decades, 12 officers from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department and the Wilmington Police Department have died in the line of duty. The causes of death range from traffic collisions to deadly shootings.

(WECT) - Deputies from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a juvenile boy at Myrtle Grove Middle School Wednesday morning for bringing a handgun onto campus. According to public information officer Lt. Jerry Brewer, no injuries were reported and parents were informed in a phone call earlier today. The juvenile has been charged with a felony, bringing a weapon onto educational property.

Terence Joseph ‘Terry’ Constable WILMINGTON Terence Joseph “Terry” Constable, 79, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021. Terry was born in Buffalo, New York, April 6, 1942, to Theodore Constable and Clara McMullen Constable. Terry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam as a combat medic and later as an environmental health specialist, retiring with over 22 years of service. After his military retirement, he began a second career at WORK Inc., serving adults with special needs in Quincy, Massachusetts. He retired and moved to Wilmington 15 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Martinez Constable; son, Terence Constable Jr., and his wife, Debbie; daughter, Melissa Constable Musliner; grandchildren, Jessica, Tony, Tyler, Austin and Kevin; great-grandchildren Allison, Lindsay, Erika and Tanner; brother, Norman Constable, and his wife, Dodie; and beloved dog, “Belle.” He was preceded in death by a grandson, Terence Joseph Constable III; siblings
