The president and auto industry maintain the nation is on the cusp of a gigantic shift to electric vehicles and away from liquid-fueled cars, but biofuels producers and some of their supporters in Congress aren t buying it. They argue that now is the time to increase sales of ethanol and biodiesel, not abandon them.
To help address climate change, President Joe Biden has proposed an infrastructure plan that includes billions of dollars to pay for 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations, electrify public vehicles and enhance the nation s power grid. These moves follow initiatives in California and other states to mandate electric vehicle sales and a goal by General Motors to shift production fully to electric vehicles by 2035.

by Mark Dorenkamp (Brownfield Ag News) The CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association says it was this time last year when the pandemic pulled the rug out from underneath the ethanol industry. And 12 months later, Geoff Cooper tells Brownfield plants seem to be turning the corner.
“It was at this time a year ago when we were sort of at the top of the rollercoaster and just starting down, wondering where in the world the bottom was.”
He says domestic ethanol blending rates have returned to pre-pandemic levels and the outlook is bright.
“We’ve still got strong export demand, we’ve got analysts talking about sort of returning to pre-pandemic gasoline demand this summer. So all of that bodes well and serves as bullish factors when we look at the outlook for ethanol supply and demand.” READ MORE
