EDF Renewables Puts North Dakota Wind Project Into Operation

socaltech.com San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewables North America has successfully put another project into operation, this time a 150 megawatt wind energy project in North Dakota. The company said its Merricourt Wind Project has been turned over to Otter Tail Power Company. South Jersey Port Plans Pioneering Construction of Offshore Wind Structures

Monopiles are massive steel structures that serve as foundations for offshore wind turbines. The Danish wind giant would like to utilize the port just south of Philadelphia as part of a supply chain to develop its Ocean Wind project 15 miles off the southern Jersey Shore. If a new terminal and facility can be built quickly enough, the company could construct as many as 50 monopiles at the port, Ørsted project development director Marc Reimer said Tuesday. Offshore wind farms may use different structures for the turbines, depending on the conditions of the ocean at the site. There is a ton of work for that plan to happen, Reimer said. No one is more committed to that happening than Ørsted.

(Credit: Pixabay) EDF Renewables North America today announced the Space City Solar Project is progressing with critical development milestones having signed the first tranche of 55 megawatts (MWac)/73 MWdc to BASF through a Power Purchase Agreement. The Project’s total capacity is up to 345 MWac/455 MWdc. Space City Solar, located in Wharton County, Texas, is expected to commence construction in Summer 2021 and begin delivery of clean electricity in Summer 2022. Approximately 300 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase, with more than $30 million generated in new tax revenue over the operating life for Wharton County taxing entities. In addition to providing stable payments to local landowners who chose to lease their land, the Louise Independent School District has the ability to receive $2.5 million in revenue, including $1.8 million in the first year of operation providing the district enacts a Chapter 313 Agreement by December 31, 2020.
