It goes without saying that NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter has delighted the world in recent weeks, and it’s not done yet. NASA has released the first color aerial photos of the surface of Mars taken by Ingenuity in its successful second test flight earlier this week.They are quite a sight, although I must admit the first thing I think of when I see them is, “Oh look, the Perseverance rover passed by here.”

NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter flew farther and faster Sunday than the rotorcraft’s first two test flights in the Martian atmosphere, traveling the length of a football field while exceeding distances and speeds achieved during testing on Earth, officials said.
On Sunday’s test flight, the diminutive rotor-driven drone flew a distance of some 164 feet (50 meters) from its takeoff location, then returned to the same flat patch of Martian terrain for a controlled landing, logging around 330 feet of distance traveled in about 80 seconds.

NASA s Ingenuity Mars helicopter continues smashing its goals. The chopper on Sunday flew faster and farther than ever before, setting a new record distance of 164 feet (just over half the length of a football field) and top speed of 6.6 feet per second.
But what happens on Mars doesn t stay on Mars. The Perseverance rover captured Ingenuity s third flight on camera; watch below as the helicopter lifts into the air, zips out of shot, and returns moments later to land again.

The US space agency s Ingenuity helicopter made a third successful flight on Mars on April 25, moving farther and faster than ever before. Since making its maiden flight on April 19 and subsequent test flight on April 23, the little marscopter soared to a height of 64 feet (50 meters) with a speed of 6.6. feet per second or four miles per hour.
