From manager to mayor: Ex-Mets skipper Bobby Valentine is running for office in his hometown

Former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine is running for mayor in Stamford, Conn.

The 70-year-old Valentine announced Friday he’s running for mayor in his hometown.
Valentine ran the Mets from 1996 to 2002, leading the club to the 2000 World Series, which it lost to the New York Yankees in five games.

Valentine announced his candidacy for Stamford mayor on social media, releasing a video on Twitter and YouTube.
The three-minute clip is filled with testimonials from some of his supporters in Stamford. But Valentine did include this message:

Valentine, 70, who currently serves as the athletic director at Sacred Heart University, posted a video on social media and said he ll run as an independent candidate in Stamford.
