Mets considered a reunion with Yoenis Cespedes during season s first half? By Zac Wassink | Last updated 7/13/21
Former New York Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes didn t take an at-bat during the 2019 MLB season in part because of what the New York Post reported to be a fractured ankle linked with an encounter with a wild boar at his Florida ranch, and he appeared in only eight games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign before he opted out without warning.
With the Mets facing numerous injury setbacks during the first half of the current season, at least somebody within the organization considered a reunion involving the 35-year-old.

Mickey Callaway Fired By The Angels For Sexual Harassment
The move came after the former New York Mets manager was suspended by Major League Baseball.
Former New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway was suspended by Major League Baseball on Wednesday through at least the end of the 2022 season following an investigation of sexual harassment allegations.
Shortly after MLB’s announcement of the suspension, the Los Angeles Angels said they had fired Callaway, the team’s pitching coach since October 2019. The Angels suspended him on Feb. 2 at the start of MLB’s investigation.
Commissioner Rob Manfred did not release details of what MLB’s probe determined, but said in a statement “I have concluded that Mr. Callaway violated MLB’s policies, and that placement on the ineligible list is warranted.”
