Eyeing to reclaim the MPL Philippines crown, Aura Philippines tapped former Smart Omega coach Steven “Dale” Vitug as its strategic coach for Season 7 which will fire off on March 19.
Aura PH made the surprising reveal through a video that also showed its full roster for the upcoming season of Moonton’s professional league for its mobile MOBA game.
“Just when you thought you’ve seen everything, you’re wrong. We had someone to join us at the very last minute. We’re hyped to announce that Coach Dale is now a part of our team,” the team said in the caption.

Organised by Riot Games and ConCom Inc, the event took place on a massive scale. ‘The Worlds’ was broadcast in 16 languages and across 21 platforms setting a new record; an indicator of eSports’ increasing appeal. The live event saw 888 active JDC1 heads in use - corresponding to a lucky number in Chinese numerology. All pieces were sourced from Christie Lites, and were supplied via main contractors, CT Asia Pacific. In brief: Despite the surging popularity of esports in the US, there’s still a sizable void in terms of competitiveness. Simply put, teams in America aren’t playing on the same level as their counterparts from Asia. To help level the playing field, team owners are spending millions to bring some of the world s best players to the US.
Competitive gaming, or esports, has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Just over half a decade ago, ESPN’s (former) president bashed the budding multiplayer gaming competitions, saying they were more like chess and checkers and that ESPN was mostly interested in covering traditional sports.

In late 2019, Kia recognized the growing popularity of professional gaming also referred to as esports and started making its presence known at major events worldwide as an official partner of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC). At the 2019 LEC Summer Finals, the brand premiered an ad featuring top esports personalities alongside the Kia Stinger. Now, following the end of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship, Kia will officially sponsor the winning team: DAMWON Gaming.
The multi-year naming sponsorship starts with the team officially being referred to as DWG Kia and they will receive new uniforms with updated logos featuring Kia branding.
