A popular Jamaican dancehall music producer was arrested last week in south Florida for allegedly scamming an 88-year-old man of US$63,000.
The owner of the label, ‘Papi Don Musiq’, Donte Johnson, has been charged with criminal use of personal identification, bank fraud and grand theft of a firearm.
According to Fox4 News, the 25-year-old Jamaican has since been released on bond in the US.
However, the Broward County Sheriff s Office said a further probe is ongoing, as it is believed that the Jamaican scammed a total of US$300,000 from 17 other elderly persons across the US.
In relation to the charges now laid against Johnson, it is alleged that the elderly man believed he was paying taxes for Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes winnings in advance.
