SUNRISE, Fla. – The family of a Sunrise man say there is a void that feels unfillable since their loved one was shot and killed. They made a public plea on Thursday for the person responsible to turn himself in to police.
The shooting happened on April 22 in Sunrise. At the time, police would only release limited information that one man was shot multiple times by another man. They said the victim died from his injuries at the hospital.
“We saw what occurred with the bank robbery and we saw it on NBC 6 on the website,” the man said. “We watched the video and when we watched the video the person that did the robbery looked very familiar.”
So, they say they called Wilton Manors Police, the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. They say they also submitted a tip on the app for Crime Stoppers of Broward County and got a code to track their tip.
Six days later, the bank robbery suspect was back on NBC6.
The FBI reported Cristina Rossi had been arrested.
She’s since been charged with bank robbery.
To avoid the gunfire, the tan vehicle started cutting through lanes of traffic in the busy roadway and caused several crashes, Santiago said.
The black vehicle caught up and started shooting at the tan vehicle. The occupants inside the tan vehicle started shooting back, Santiago said.
The black vehicle drove away from the scene and is still at large. At least four vehicles were involved in the crashes.
A witness drove three occupants of the tan vehicle to a hospital, Santiago said. They were eventually transported to Broward Health and will be released.
Santiago said it was too early to determine a motive and that police have no information on a suspect.
