Otley cancer survivor and family to Race for Life at home

An OTLEY cancer survivor is set to Race for Life at Home with his family and carry on the fight against the disease as the nation looks beyond lockdown.  Andrew Shippey, 42, will be joined by son Toby, ten, and three-year-old daughter Evie - the children he thought he’d never have after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in his first year of university. Along with wife Alice, 38, the family will be celebrating by completing their own Race for Life at Home challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. They will join thousands of people from across the UK who have all vowed to run, walk or jog 5K either alone or in small, socially distanced groups this April and raise money for life-saving research.

Checkouts and the front of the stores will also be decorated in pink to mark the occasion. The funds go towards world-class research to help beat 200 types of the disease. Oonagh Turnbull, head of health campaigns at Tesco, said: “Tesco Turns Pink is one of the highlights of the year in our stores. It will be slightly different this year because of coronavirus restrictions in place in our stores, but we know that the support of our customers and colleagues in raising vital funds for this great cause will be undeterred.” Keep up to date with all the latest news on our website, or follow us on
