Pulaski County Treasurer Joan Isaacs advised county officials that the state has approved the draft budget for 2021-22 at Tuesday s fiscal court meeting.
Despite the economy-crippling COVID pandemic, Pulaski County Fiscal Court is working on a budget that includes across-the-board raises for employees.
The first reading of the 2021-22 county budget was heard at the May 11 fiscal court meeting and County Treasurer Joan Isaacs reported to magistrates on Tuesday that Kentucky s Department for Local Government had approved the draft so that it could be advertised for a second reading at the June 8 regular meeting. There were no changes, Isaacs told the court. They said everything looked well.

Since at least last December, Pulaski County Fiscal Court had been discussing the need to meet with officials from the City of Somerset in order to renew several interlocal agreements.
That meeting recently took place to the apparent satisfaction of all parties involved. Following a brief executive session to discuss property near the end of Tuesday s regular meeting, magistrates reconvened in open session to approve three interlocal agreements which will now be submitted to the Somerset City Council for consideration.

Wes Finley launched a Facebook page last Thursday announcing his candidacy in the race for District 4 Magistrate a seat currently held by Somerset businessman Mark Ranshaw. I m from Pulaski County, Finley said of his desire to run for the Republican nomination. I ve lived in Shopville since I was in the fourth grade. I just love the county and have a need to be involved and help make it a better place.
As for District 4 specifically, Finley added that he wanted it help continue its tradition of being a great place to raise your family explaining he d be detailing his platform this fall as the local campaigning really gets underway.
