Marinette County adds 18 virus cases, Florence a new death | News, Sports, Jobs

Wisconsin COVID-19 data Tuesday showed 18 new confirmed positives in Marinette County. In Florence County, local health officials reported a coronavirus-related death, its first fatal case in months. The person, who was not identified, was between 30 to 60 years old, the Florence County Health Department stated in a news release. No other information was provided to protect the family’s privacy. The FCHD added, “Public health officials strongly encourage all eligible individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.” For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Tuesday added 51 new confirmed positives: 10 in Marquette County; seven in Delta County; six in Houghton County; five in Baraga County; four in Menominee, Luce and Chippewa counties; three in Dickinson and Schoolcraft counties; two in Iron and Mackinac counties; and one in Ontonagon County. Delta County had the only new death in the region.

This vaccine has been approved for the general population ages 16 years of age and older. Once you receive the COVID vaccine and are considered fully vaccinated, individuals no longer have to quarantine after being exposed to the virus, health department officials noted.
