Loop News Another 184 beds are to be shortly added to the existing 716 beds that are in hospitals across the island specifically for COVID-19 patients, according to Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton. Tufton, who was speaking during a press briefing at Jamaica House on Monday evening, said the additional beds are to be prepared in anticipation of a further spike in the spread of the pandemic, which is expected within the next two weeks. According to Tufton, the new beds will include 30 at Spanish Town Hospital, 32 at Falmouth Hospital and two 40-bed facilities at St Joseph s Hospital. These will be field hospitals.
