Denmark Inflation Increases In May
The consumer price index rose 1.7 percent year-on-year in May, following a 1.5 percent increase in April.
The consumer price index for May is affected by Covid-19, as the drop in price observations remained larger than normal, the agency said.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased the most by 15.4 percent in May, mainly due to higher prices for tobacco.
Prices for transport rose 4.8 percent and those of education increased by 3.5 percent.

International students keep universities in regions viable
Akademikerne, the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, has found.
Only one out of the 10 study places in Denmark with the largest proportion of international students is located in one of the four larger university cities; the nine others are located in smaller provincial cities, the study noted.
The finding casts doubt on the government’s plan to shift 7,500 university study places out of the bigger cities to towns to improve higher education access, as reported by
University World News last week.
This is because the shift would be financed in part by cutting English-taught courses and imposing limits on how much universities can spend on marketing abroad, both of which would affect international student numbers.
Denmark passes law to move asylum centers outside the EU. It still needs another country to agree

Denmark has passed a law allowing it to relocate asylum seekers to third countries while their asylum claims are processed, in a move that has drawn sharp condemnation from human rights groups.
The bill, which was approved in Danish parliament on Thursday, paves the way for offshore asylum centers outside the European Union, a press officer for the Danish parliament told CNN.
The legislation aims to send asylum seekers to reception centers in third countries once a quick process has been completed in Denmark. But the government has yet to outline where these centers will be placed, as it has not reached an agreement with a third country, Danish government spokesperson on immigration Rasmus Stoklund told CNN.
