BHUBANESWAR: The commissionerate police on Monday issued a WhatsApp number 7077798111 for citizens to report street crimes, including snatching, harassment and eve-teasing in the capital city. Police have also urged the citizens to share credible information, photo and video on street crimes and criminals on the WhatsApp number.
“We will start the service from Tuesday. The WhatsApp number will be functional in addition to the dial 100 emergency number. We urge people not to call the WhatsApp number. They should only send messages, photos and videos of street crimes and criminals. Details of the informers will not be disclosed,” said deputy commissioner of police Uma Shankar Dash.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha on Monday achieved one lakh vaccination mark of elderly people and persons with comorbidities (above 45 years) on a single day. The government a week ago had set a target of inoculating one lakh elderly persons on a daily basis.
Of the total 1,00,273, who received the shot, 95,576 are above 60 years and 4,697 with comorbidities. “Today we have crossed one lakh vaccination of people on a single day according to the target fixed by the health department,” said additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) has passed orders penalizing two separate real estate developers Rs 20 lakh each for violations of different sections of the Odisha Real Estate Regulation and Development Rules 2017.
In one order, the ORERA fined a developer Rs 20 lakh for violating Section 3 of the Act that states promoters cannot book, offer to book, sell or advertise their properties without getting the said projects registered with ORERA. Any violations in this regard would attract a penalty of up to 10 per cent of the project cost, the act says.
