KITCHENER Health officials in Waterloo Region reported 56 more cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, while the number of people in hospital remained unchanged. There have been 10,361 cases of the disease in the region so far. There are 310 active cases, and 9,821 cases are considered resolved. A total of 222 people have died, a number that remained unchanged on Sunday. Meantime, 18 people are in hospital receiving COVID-19 treatment, including seven in the ICU, numbers that remained unchanged since Saturday s update. The number of active outbreaks in the region dropped by two on Sunday to 22. Outbreaks at Luther Village on the Park Retirement Home and an unnamed congregate setting were declared over.

That means 209 people with the virus have died in the region since the start of the pandemic.
Seven more people with the virus were hospitalized, the region reported on Saturday. A total of 34 people are in hospital with nine in the intensive care unit.

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 35 new COVID-19 cases on its dashboard Sunday afternoon.
This brings the new total up to 8,947 cases for the region since March.
The number of active cases has decreased to 780 from 857 since Saturday.

7,975 resolved cases (89 per cent).
There have been 189 deaths in the region linked to the virus. The latest was confirmed on January 24.
41 cases are currently hospitalized (13 in ICU).
