The six-floor, 400,000-square-foot space includes 12 ambulatory surgery rooms, six diagnostic rooms, an infusion center with 35 chairs, and PET Scan and MRI areas. Guimento said he expects about 50,000 patients will use the center annually.
“From the patients’ perspective, they would be able to see different specialists in the same place and even on the same day,” Guimento said. “From the provider’s perspective, this creates an opportunity to collaborate on care and research projects.”
The center has a conference room on the ground floor for community-based programming. NYP-BMH has convened an advisory board with regards to programs and community outreach. Near-term programming includes pandemic-related topics; the post-Covid landscape will incorporate cancer screening and other subjects, Guimento said.
