Renovations on schedule, rebranding progressing in Saugatuck Schools
SAUGATUCK Renovations and rebranding efforts at Saugatuck Public Schools are progressing as planned through the first month of summer.
The district began construction at Douglas Elementary in April, with the first phase of the project involving the construction of new art, science and music rooms. The work is the first in a series of projects outlined in the $35.6 million bond proposal passed in March 2020.
“They’ve been hitting it hard every day. So far, we’re right on track,” Superintendent Tim Travis said of the ongoing work. “Other than that week we had a lot of rain, we’ve been right on schedule. Some of the bigger spaces, like the art room, music room, science room and cafeteria, we’re hopeful those will be up and ready around winter break.”
