In a May 18 press release, the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio strongly urged” voters not to cast ballots in the June 5 runoff election for District 9 candidate Patrick Von Dohlen citing his “extensive history of inciting anti-LGBTQIA hate.” In the District 9 runoff, Von Dohlen is facing off against incumbent John Courage who received 47% of the vote in the general election. Von Dohlen also ran for the District 9 seat in 2019 and 2017 but didn t make it into the runoffs either time.

The Bexar County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved funding for the creation of a visitor’s center and museum outside The Alamo. The funding is part of a modified Alamo redevelopment plan approved by San Antonio City Council in April.  Lieutenant Gov. Dan Patrick made a rare appearance at the Bexar County Commissioners Court ahead of the vote, beginning his remarks by showing off Alamo memorabilia and demonstrating his passion for the landmark including a 12-pound cannonball and commissioned diorama.

Artists wanted to create massive installation for downtown San Antonio’s San Pedro Creek The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. March 24 Tags:  SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio River Authority is calling for Bexar County artists to apply for a unique opportunity to create a mural for the San Pedro Creek Culture Park downtown. The five-panel mural will be a permanent piece for “one of the most culturally significant sections of the park,” according to SARA. The segment of the creek, which is the second for the park, is currently under construction. The opportunity is open to artists who live in Bexar County and are at least 18 years old. They must apply in teams of two to five, and at least one team member must be a visual artist.
