Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his help in procuring the Covid-19 vaccines by the state government to vaccinate people free of cost.
In her letter, Banerjee said: “We have embarked upon the COVID vaccination programme in right earnest. All the health workers, police workers, municipal workers, revenue workers and other frontline workers are being covered by COVID vaccination at a rapid pace. In fact, West Bengal being an election-going State, we are required to reach out practically to every government and para-statal employee on an urgent basis to make the election safe.”

On Wednesday afternoon Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to point out that while government and parastatal employees who will be involved in the conduct of the election were being vaccinated, lakhs of voters were not. West Bengal. being an election-going state. we are required to reach out to every government and parastatal employee on an urgent basis to make the election safe. The worrying point is. people in general will be forced to go to polling stations without vaccination, Ms Banerjee wrote.

India today hosted the first meeting of BRICS Finance and the central bank deputies under its chairship. The meeting, which was held virtually, was co-chaired by Tarun Bajaj, secretary, department of economic affairs, ministry of finance and Dr. Michael Patra, deputy governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
At the meeting, India shared the priorities of the financial cooperation agenda and also the issues to be discussed in the year 2021. The issues include global economic outlook and response to Covid-19, social infrastructure financing and use of digital technologies, New Development Bank (NDB) activities, Fintech for SME and financial inclusion, BRICS Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA), among others, ministry of finance said in a statement.
