West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that the health infrastructure in the state has improved considerably over the last few years.
Inaugurating a mother and child hub at Chittaranjan Seva Sadan hospital here, she said hospitals across the state have been upgraded to international standards.

With an eye on the upcoming Assembly polls, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched “Maa” canteens for providing subsidised meals to the poor and the destitute at a nominal cost of ₹5 a plate.
“This initiative is for the common people. Though we give free rations there is still a huge demand for cooked food. Therefore, we are starting these community kitchens,” she said.

CM Banerjee said that self-help groups will operate the kitchens for the Rs 5 meals from 1 pm to 3 pm every day and such kitchens will be set up everywhere in the state gradually. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  
Kolkata: Ahead of the Assembly election in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a scheme to provide a meal at a nominal price of Rs 5 to poor people. The The “Maa” scheme comes from ruling Trinamool Congress’s (TMC’s) slogan of “Ma, Mati, Manush (Mother, soil, people)”.
The meal platter will include rice, dal, a vegetable and egg curry for Rs 5, the CM said, adding that the state government will bear a subsidy of Rs 15 per plate.
