The Kempegowda International Airport has achieved net energy neutral status in the Financial Year 2020-21 as part of its sustainability goals, Bangalore International Airport (BIAL), which operates the airport said. As an outcome of energy conservation, BIAL has been able to save nearly 22 lakh units of energy in the Financial Year 2020-21, enough to power nearly 9,000 houses for a month, the BIAL said in a statement.

Bengaluru, May 19 : A 150-bed Covid care centre with oxygen supply was opened at the Bengaluru airport on the city s northern outskirts to treat asymptomatic patients with mild hypoxia, said the operator on Wednesday. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa inaugurated the 150-bed oxygenated Covid treatment centre at the Kempegowda international airport in Devanahalli, said its operator Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) in a statement here. Though the treatment will be free, patients will have to pay for tests and medicines at the centre, located near the cargo terminal of the airport.
NEW DELHI: Violating Covid will now cost Rs 1,000. The Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) on Saturday announced it will levy a “fine of Rs 1,000 on individuals who refuse to comply with Covid safety norms such as wearing face masks that covers the nose and mouth and maintaining social distancing amongst others at the airport.”
MIAL’s decision comes after Bengaluru Airport began levying a fine of Rs 250 on violators outside the terminal like in parking lot and Airports Authority of India saying it will also penalise Covid norm violators. MIAL said the move for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) comes on the basis of the “directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)… from April 01, 2021.”
